BotswanaPost, known for its nationwide postal services, is branching out into insurance brokerage as part of a drive to diversify its earnings beyond traditional streams. According to the company’s 2023/2024 integrated report, BotswanaPost has secured an insurance brokerage license in its own name—a major milestone in its ongoing transformation.
“We have successfully applied for and secured an insurance brokerage license,” the report states. “This represents the next big step in our growth and transformation.”
Leveraging its wide network across the country and a strong track record in customer service, BotswanaPost aims to attract both long-term and short-term insurance clients. This venture adds to its growing list of offerings, which already includes an online payment platform where customers can easily pay premiums for insurers like Hollard, Liberty Life, and Botswana Life.
Beyond insurance, BotswanaPost is also expanding into commercial real estate. In the past year, the company completed construction of a new strip mall in Tati Siding, providing the local community with additional shopping and business options while creating a sustainable revenue source for the postal service. A similar project in Mmopane is close to completion.
“These developments align with BotswanaPost’s strategic objective to diversify revenue streams,” the report notes. “We remain committed to transforming our operations and delivering innovative services that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
